The Little Things

Such a strange little life, where we’re as busy as the bees,
So focused on the task at hand, that we forget to simply be.

We miss the world around us, as it rushes through the haze,
So lost in our own little lives, and losing count of all the days.

Is it a cloud of habit or simply fear of change?
Worried about what might happen, if we dare to rearrange?

A fear of the unknown can always hold us back,
Sometimes we need to pause a while, and trust we’re right on track.

Perhaps we need to slow it down and notice where we are,
To lift our eyes above the ground, and see that we’re not far.

Not far from all the little things that make this life worthwhile,
The parts we often overlook, the things that make us smile.

For life is not the list we make, or every box we tick,
It’s in the little things we do, the moments that will stick.

A quiet walk, a friendly smile, a sunset in the sky,
The little things we’re too caught up, to notice passing by.

Perhaps the road we’re meant to take is not the one we planned,
Sometimes we need to pause awhile, and choose to simply stand.

To breathe, to look, to take it in, to loosen our own grip,
For sometimes life begins again, with just one little shift.

So let us not be so consumed with where we’re meant to be,
That we forget to look around, and see what we can see.
