Kindred Spirits
Maybe we’re all just kindred spirits, leading each other home,
A flicker of light in the darkness, so no one ever feels alone.
Maybe your purpose for being here, was never in the things you do,
But the winding journey through this life, that leads you back to you.
For all of the love we offer, begins with looking in,
With gentler words and softer thoughts, and healing from within.
Sometimes the hardest act of grace, is one we fail to see,
To give ourselves the very warmth, we give so willingly.
It’s easy to get swept away, by all that glitters in the sun,
Forgetting life is not a race, or a prize that must be won.
The gift is found in quiet space, in the beauty of a vow,
To trace the awe and wonder, of the ordinary now.
The world can feel a little wild, and leave us feeling small,
But there is still such magic left, if we are open to it all.
A sky washed pink at sunrise, a stranger’s gentle smile,
A quiet kindness offered up, that makes the hard days all worthwhile.
We may not change the world at once, or heal it overnight,
But we can leave a little warmth, whenever we shine bright.
One small embrace, a steady hand to help a traveller through,
Can alter landscapes in the heart, in ways we never knew.
Maybe we’re all just kindred spirits, learning how to be,
Leaving lights along the path, to set each other free.
