Surrender

Let go of what you’re holding, there’s no need to keep it near,

set it down gently beside you, and release your grip on fear

The plans you made before, of how your life should be,

may not be written in the stars, or part of what you’re meant to see

Life has a funny way, of working itself out,

like scattered pieces of a puzzle, that somehow fit without a doubt

The universe won’t always give, exactly what you want,

but often what you truly need, even when you can’t see beyond

The present is yours to hold, the past has come and gone,

the future isn’t promised, so let this moment be the one

Allow the space for life to unfold, exactly as it should,

stay rooted in the present, what would you surrender, if you could?

It’s time to let it go, the thing to which you cling,

it may be what’s been keeping you, from the peace that lives within

Let go of what you’re holding, there’s no need to keep it near,

set it down gently beside you, and release your grip on fear
