Slow Down

When did life get so busy, it became a rat race,

in the rush from A to B, our peace is lost without a trace

The world is moving faster, and time keeps flying by,

did we ever stop to wonder, what would happen if we tried

Tried to slow down the momentum, tried to wake up from the fog,

life was never meant to be, a never-ending slog

When did we get so serious, that we forgot to play,

to dance and sing for no reason at all, in the middle of the day

When did we start to live so fast, we lost our gentle nature,

the empathy we have for others, that we forgot to nurture

Nature always shows the way, not everything can be rushed,

the magic lives within the stillness, not in how far we can be pushed

And just like in nature, we have seasons of our own,

times for rest and growth and joy, before the seeds are sown

We all have our roles to fill, and the parts that we must play,

but the list is never ending, and there’s not enough hours in the day

So give yourself permission to do something just for you,

because whatever feeds your spirit helps your inner light shine through

You have to choose it for yourself, the world won’t slow or wait,

but every small and gentle choice can shift and change your state

There’s no time like the present to choose a different way,

life is never fixed in stone, it’s changing every day

Yes, the world is moving faster, but that doesn’t mean that we should too,

our nervous systems weren’t designed for this, it needs a rested, softer you
