Room to Breathe

Life was never meant to be this much, it seems we're living in an endless rush.
No time to stop and share a smile, nor time to stop and stay a while.

This isn't how it's meant to be, I wish that we could really see,
that all the things we're striving for, just keep us rushing out the door.

And maybe all we really need, is to just slow down, reduce our speed,
and our never-ending daily grind, wouldn't have us in such a bind.

What if we took the time to stay, and remember what it's like to play,
to rest, to sleep, to be alone, find new hobbies and talents unknown,

To create the space that we dearly lack, for fear of veering off the right track,
because truthfully it seems we’ve forgotten, that the path we need is the one less trodden.

Maybe the thing we're longing for, isn't found in wanting more,
perhaps the secret is the space we leave, a gift to ourselves, some room to breathe.

We are the author of the story about us, but we're just too afraid of making a fuss,
blindly losing track of time, as the hours, the days and the years rush by.

Life was never meant to be this much, it seems we're living in an endless rush.
No time to stop and share a smile, nor time to stop and stay a while.
