If you’re wondering what Yoga Nidra is ~ here’s a little explanation: -
Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation practice designed to take you into a state of profound relaxation while you simply lie down comfortably and listen to the soothing music and guided meditations from Tiluka, my lovely co-host for this retreat.
Often called "yogic sleep," Yoga Nidra gently guides you into the space between waking and sleeping, where your body can deeply restore, your nervous system can recalibrate and your mind can truly let go. This is the perfect practice for when you're feeling burnt out, tired, anxious, overwhelmed or just in need of a space to reconnect with yourself and your inner sanctuary. It offers an effortless way to unwind, restore your energy, and reconnect with a grounding sense of calm.
The yoga nidra practice follows a chakra balancing vinyasa flow yoga class with me and most of you have practiced with me at some point, so you’ll know that we always end the class in a very relaxing guided meditation whilst in savasana. If you’ve ever felt deeply relaxed during savasana after a vinyasa flow class, and wished it could be a little longer, this is the perfect retreat for you. The longer guided meditation allows more time for you to deeply nourish and reset.
Traditionally, yoga was practiced in much longer sessions than the 60-minute classes we're familiar with in the West today. The physical postures, or asanas, were never the final goal, they were designed to prepare the body and mind for stillness, creating the space for deeper meditation and inner healing. The true aim of yoga has always been the state of awareness and enlightenment that arises through the complete practice, it’s never been about the perfect pose, but always about the peace that follows a full yoga practice and during this retreat, you’ll get to experience that more fully and more deeply than you ever could through a 60-minute class.
We have bolsters and props to keep you super comfy but you can also bring along blankets, pillows/cushions and treat this time as your own mental and physical health refresh.
